Ride the Cyclone: Teen Edition

What would you say if you had one last chance to make your case for your life?

Six teenagers. One freak accident. An extraordinary choice.

When the St. Cassian High School Chamber Choir's roller coaster ride takes a tragic turn, they find themselves in a strange afterlife hosted by The Amazing Karnak — a mechanical fortune teller with the power to send one of them back to the living world. The catch? They have to compete for it.

Bold, funny, heartbreaking, and completely unlike anything you've seen before, Ride the Cyclone: Teen Edition is a genre-defying musical that blends dark comedy, soaring ballads, rap, and raw emotional storytelling into one unforgettable night of theater.

    • Genre-spanning vocal work — from soaring ballads to rap to ensemble harmonies — each character has their own distinct musical voice

    • Deep text work and scene study focused on truthful, grounded performance in an otherworldly setting

    Character Development

    • A transformative journey that asks performers to explore identity, vulnerability, and what it truly means to matter

    • Opportunities for rich, layered character work as each student makes their case for why their life deserves a second chance

    Movement & Ensemble Work

    • Ensemble-based staging that builds listening skills, focus, and teamwork — this show lives and dies as a collective

    • Stylized movement and transitions rooted in the carnival/limbo world of the show, requiring strong group awareness and physical commitment

    • Eligibility: This production is best suited for teen performers who are ready for a serious rehearsal process and emotionally honest storytelling.

    • Must be available for in person callbacks

    • Must be available during tech week and show dates: November 8-15

    • Auditions will be held virtually and are due Friday, September 4 at 4:00pm.

    • Please prepare a 32-bar cut of a musical theater song in the style of the show

      • If you’d like help choosing material, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to guide you.

    • We will also send a short dance/movement combo to learn and submit.

    • Callbacks will take place in person on the first day of rehearsals, Tuesday, September 8

  • Days & Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays (7-9pm), bi-weekly Saturdays (5-7pm)
    Tech/Dress Rehearsals: November 8-12 (6-10pm)
    Performances: November 13, 14 (7:00pm), 14 (2:30pm), 15 (1:30pm)

    Please note that excessive conflicts may impact casting.

  • Tuition:

    • $950 per student when paid in full ($78 discount)

    • $257/month per student for 4 months when using a payment plan (total $1028)

Our musical theatre program is designed to give kids and teens the tools they need to be successful when going into the rehearsal and performance process of a show with community or professional theater.

With small class sizes for individualized attention and real time work with industry professionals, each class dives into the fundamentals of singing, acting, and dancing, and how to utilize each skill effectively during rehearsals and performances.
