Birchwood Performing Arts is seeking dynamic, engaging performers for our children’s book concert series in partnership with Birdhouse Books in North Austin —a fusion of storytelling and live music that brings beloved children’s books to life!

Audition Details:

Audition Format: Virtual (Video Submission)

Submission Deadline: February 28th

Where to Submit: Google Form

Who We’re Looking For:

• Versatile singers comfortable learning music and blocking very quickly - we typically only have four rehearsals and a dress rehearsal to put the show together - including learning 4 - 6 songs with blocking/choreography for each.

• Performers comfortable engaging with young audiences

• All ages, genders, and backgrounds are encouraged to submit

Submission Requirements:

• A video of you singing a 16 - 32 bar cut of a song showcasing your vocal abilities

• Headshot and resume (if you have)

About the Series:

Our Book Reading concerts are a 30 minute experience of a popular children’s book reading with songs from the related musical interspersed throughout, typically performed in the morning/early afternoon on a weekend.  We launched this series with How The Grinch Stole Christmas! and sold out both shows - so we are excited to expand this to other beloved children’s stories.   We try to keep our concerts small and cast between 2 - 5 people for each show, with certain people being double cast.

Our next few readings are: Pinkalicious on April 5th, Junie B. Jones on June 14th and 22nd, and Shrek on August 16th and August 22nd.  Rehearsals will begin on Pinkalicious start on March 12th - please see the form for all other rehearsal dates for Pinkalicious and dates for the other concerts.
